Well, let me tell you ’bout this here watch, the gwx-5600c-7jf. Folks call it a G-Shock, but to me, it’s just a sturdy ol’ thing that tells time. Don’t get me wrong, it does more than just that, but that’s what matters most, ain’t it?
First off, it’s tough as nails. I mean, really tough. You can bang it around, drop it on the floor, even let the dog chew on it a bit (though I wouldn’t recommend that!), and it’ll still keep on tickin’. That’s what I like. No fancy business, just good ol’ reliability. They say it’s made of resin, whatever that is. Feels like good, strong plastic to me.
- It’s got this big face, easy to read, even when my eyes are a bit blurry in the mornin’.
- And it tells you the date too, which is mighty helpful, ’cause sometimes I forget what day it is. Age does that to ya, I reckon.
Now, they say it’s waterproof. Water-resistant, they call it. 200 meters, they say. That’s a whole lotta water, more than I’ll ever see in my lifetime, I tell ya. I wash dishes with it on, wear it in the rain, even took a shower with it once, just to see if it would hold up. And it did! Didn’t even skip a beat.
This watch, it’s a bit chunky, though. They say it’s 42.8 millimeters across, whatever that means. It’s big, but not too big, fits my wrist just fine. And it’s got this strap, feels like rubber, real comfy. Easy to put on and take off, even when my hands are achy.
It’s got some fancy stuff too, like this tide graph thing. Shows you the tides, high and low. Now, I don’t live near the ocean, so I don’t really use it. But I guess if you’re a fisherman or somethin’, it might be handy. It also tells you the moon phases, which is kinda neat. I like lookin’ at the moon, always have. Reminds me of simpler times.
The fella at the store told me it has a solar panel or somethin’, charges with the sun. That’s mighty clever, ain’t it? No need to fuss with batteries. Just leave it in the light, and it keeps on runnin’. They call it “stored energy” I think. I don’t know all that technical mumbo jumbo, but it works, and that’s all I care about.
This watch, it also has an alarm. Loud enough to wake the dead, I swear. I use it to remind me to take my medicine, and to feed the chickens. And sometimes I set it just to wake myself up in the mornin’, even though I usually wake up before the sun anyway. Old habits die hard, they say.
Let’s see, what else? Oh yeah, it’s got a stopwatch and a countdown timer. I used the stopwatch once to see how long it took me to walk to the mailbox and back. Took me longer than I thought, I tell ya. As for the timer, I mostly use it when I’m baking. Don’t want to burn those cookies, now do we?
Now, some folks might say this watch is too plain, too simple. They want somethin’ fancy, with diamonds and gold and all that jazz. But me? I like things that are practical, that work well, and that last a long time. And this watch, it fits the bill. It’s reliable, tough, and it does what it’s supposed to do. Can’t ask for much more than that, can ya?
The thickness, they say it’s 13.4mm. And from one end to the other where the strap attaches is 48.9mm. The strap itself is 20mm wide. Like I said, it fits good, not too tight, not too loose. Just right. It’s not a heavy thing, which is good, ‘cause my old bones can’t handle anything too heavy anymore.
Overall, I’d say this gwx-5600c-7jf watch is a good, solid piece of work. It ain’t flashy, but it gets the job done. And that’s what matters most to me. If you’re lookin’ for a watch that’ll last ya a long time and won’t let ya down, then this might just be the watch for you.
