Alright, so today I wanted to figure out what Ronald Reagan’s favorite food was, you know, the 40th President of the United States. Turns out, the guy had a real sweet tooth!
I started digging around, just poking through some online articles and stuff. It didn’t take long to find out that Reagan was absolutely nuts about jelly beans. Apparently, he used them to help him quit smoking when he was Governor of California. He loved them so much that they were always around, even in the Oval Office.
The Jelly Bean Hunt
Now, I got curious about which specific brand and flavors he liked. Some sources mentioned the Jelly Belly brand, and it made sense, they are the top notch jelly beans, right? So I went deeper into the Jelly Belly rabbit hole.
I found that he started with the regular brand during his governor days, but then discovered Jelly Belly. Supposedly, he really dug the variety of flavors they offered. And the mini size is a perfect fit for a small cup or bowl.
Ordering and Tasting
I figured, why not try them myself? I went ahead and ordered a variety pack of Jelly Belly jelly beans online. When the package arrived, I was like a kid in a candy store. Seriously, there were so many flavors!
- Very Cherry
- Buttered Popcorn
- Coconut
- Licorice
- Strawberry Cheesecake
I started popping them in my mouth, trying to imagine what it was like for Reagan to have these on hand all the time. The flavors were pretty intense, in a good way. I could totally see why he’d get hooked on these. And, you know, I might have developed a slight addiction myself while doing this little experiment. I just love the Very Cherry flavor the most!
It was a fun little dive into a former president’s life, all through the lens of his favorite candy. I mean, who would’ve thought jelly beans could be so interesting? It just goes to show, sometimes the simplest things can tell you a lot about a person.
