Okay, so I’ve been wanting to customize a pair of shoes for a while, and I finally decided to go for it. I picked up some plain white Jordan 1s – a classic, you know? My idea was to make them green and white, keeping it simple but fresh.

First, I gathered my materials. I got:
- Angelus leather paint in green and white
- Some masking tape
- Paintbrushes (a few different sizes)
- A matte finisher
- A Pencil
Prepping the Shoes
The prep work is super important. I cleaned the shoes really well with some soapy water and a rag, making sure to get any dirt or dust off. Then, I let them dry completely.
Next up was the tedious part: taping. I carefully taped off all the areas I wanted to stay white. This took a while, gotta be honest. I used the pencil sketching all area that i wanted to be green. Precision is key here, or the paint will bleed and it’ll look messy.
Painting Time!
Once the taping was done, I started painting. I applied thin, even coats of the green paint to the areas I wanted. The first coat looked kinda streaky, but I didn’t panic. I just let it dry completely before adding another coat. I think I ended up doing three coats to get a really solid, vibrant green.

After the green was totally dry, I carefully removed the tape. There were a couple of tiny spots where the paint had bled a little, but I was able to fix those with a tiny brush and some white paint.
Finishing Touches
To protect the paint and give the shoes a nice finish, I applied a couple of coats of the matte finisher. This also helped to even out the texture a bit.
And that’s it! I let them dry overnight, and then I laced them up. They turned out pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. It’s a simple design, but the green and white combo looks really clean. I’m stoked to wear these around!
