Alright, so a while back I got really into this whole Emma Stone thing, especially after seeing her in “Cruella.” I mean, she was awesome, right? But something was bugging me. I remembered Cruella de Vil from the old cartoon, and she always had this long cigarette holder, looking all fancy and evil. But in the new movie? Gone. Vanished. So I started digging.
First thing I did was rewatch the movie, just to make sure I wasn’t crazy. Nope, no cigarette holder in sight. Then I hit the internet, and guess what? I wasn’t the only one who noticed. There were tons of people talking about it online.
Turns out, Disney decided a while back, around 2007, to cut out smoking from their movies. Makes sense, I guess, especially for kids. Emma Stone even talked about it in some interview with the New York Times. She said it’s just not allowed anymore, and she is right.
- I went on this whole other tangent about Emma Stone herself.
- Found out her real name is Emily.
- She just picked “Emma” because there was already an Emily Stone in the Screen Actors Guild.
Then I learned a little about her family. She’s got a younger brother, Spencer, and her family is like a mix of Swedish, German, English, Scottish, and Irish. Pretty cool, huh? And get this – her grandpa’s last name was originally “Sten,” but they changed it to “Stone.”
Anyway, back to the cigarette thing. So even though it made sense why Disney did it, I still felt like something was missing. That cigarette holder was just so…Cruella. It’s like, part of her whole deal, you know?
But hey, even without the smoking, Emma Stone totally rocked that role. She really brought Cruella to life, and that’s what matters, right? So I did more research about her personal life.
I also discovered she got married to some guy named Dave McCary back in 2020. Apparently, they met when she was hosting Saturday Night Live. But who cares.
So, that’s my Emma Stone deep dive. Started with a missing cigarette holder and ended up learning a bunch about her life and how movies are changing. Kind of a wild ride, but a fun one!
