Alright, today I wanted to share my little experiment dressing like Sofia Coppola, especially with those Carhartt jackets everyone’s talking about. Started by remembering how she keeps things simple but stylish, you know? Saw some posts online about her vibe – lots of basic stuff like plain tees and loose shirts. So, I thought, why not try it myself?
Digging into her style
First, I spent a good hour scrolling through old photos of her on my phone. Noticed she loves relaxed fits, nothing too flashy. Kept seeing her in cozy jackets that looked tough but easy to wear. That got me hooked on Carhartt – heard they’re durable and kinda rugged, perfect for that effortless look she pulls off.
Then, I raided my closet to see what I had already. Found a few plain black pants and some faded jeans. Didn’t have anything like what she wears, so I made a quick list:
- A couple of soft tees in white and grey
- Some comfy boots for that casual feel
- And of course, the main star: Carhartt jackets
Hunting for the jackets
Drove down to a local store since I hate waiting for stuff to ship. Wandered around the racks, felt all the fabrics. Tried on a bunch to see what clicked. Ended up picking three that Sofia would probably approve:
- The workwear classic – thick and heavy, feels like it’ll last forever. Perfect for layering over a tee.
- The lightweight one – super breathable and loose, reminds me of her go-to overshirts.
- The hooded style – cozy and versatile, easy for everyday errands.
Checked them against her style – all neutral colors, nothing crazy. Paid up and headed home feeling pretty pumped.
Putting the whole outfit together
Laid everything out on my bed like a puzzle. Started with the basics: wore a plain white tee and those jeans. Then pulled on the lightweight Carhartt jacket first. Stood in front of the mirror, adjusted it a bit. Added my boots to complete the look.

Felt kinda stiff at first, so I loosened up the jacket and rolled the sleeves, just like Sofia does. Tried pairing the hooded one with my black pants and an old necklace for a hint of detail. Kept swapping pieces around until it felt right – simple, comfortable, and not trying too hard.
How it turned out
Spent the afternoon wearing it around my place and even popped out for coffee. Got a few nods from folks, which was nice. Honestly, the whole thing made me realize why Sofia’s style works – it’s all about confidence and not overthinking. The jackets were comfy and practical, just like she’d want. Now I’ve got a new go-to look for messy days, and it didn’t cost a fortune. Might share more later if I tweak it!
