Discover the Charm of Hand Knitted Jerseys.

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to knit a jersey for ages, you know, one of those cool, personalized ones. I finally took the plunge, and let me tell you, it was a journey!

Getting Started

First, I picked out my yarn. I went with a super chunky, soft merino wool in this awesome deep blue color. I wanted something cozy and warm, perfect for those chilly evenings. I also grabbed some big needles – size 15, I think. It felt a bit like knitting with broomsticks at first!

The Pattern (or Lack Thereof)

Now, I’m not the best at following super complicated patterns. So, I kind of…winged it. I found a basic sweater pattern online, but honestly, I mostly just used it as a guide for the general shape. I measured my chest, my arms, and basically guesstimated the rest. Risky, I know, but that’s how I roll.

Knitting Away

sleeves and body

I knitted the sleeves to my arms and the body separately, flat, and then seamed them up later. The length is perfect according to me.

Finishing Touches

Once I had all the pieces, I sewed them together. This part was a bit fiddly, but I took my time and made sure everything was lined up. Then, I wove in all the loose ends, which is always a bit of a chore, but so satisfying when it’s done.

The Result

It’s not perfect. There are a few wonky stitches, the neckline is a little…unique, and it’s definitely oversized. But you know what? I love it. It’s super warm, incredibly comfy, and I made it myself. I already have a second version using diffenent colors.
