Trying to Get the Khaite NYFW Thing
Alright, let’s talk about this Khaite stuff during New York Fashion Week. I kept seeing mentions, pictures popping up everywhere. You know how it is. So, I spent a bit trying to figure out what the whole buzz was truly about this time around.
I went online, scrolled through the usual feeds. Saw the clothes. Lots of dark colors, leather, those sharp shoulder looks. Everyone in the photos looks kinda cool, kinda serious, definitely like they have their stuff together, you know? That effortless rich-person vibe. It’s definitely a specific look they push.
Here’s the thing though…
It got me thinking back. Reminded me of this time years ago, way before I was doing this stuff, I tried to get into some exclusive party. Wasn’t even fashion week, just some random ‘it’ event downtown. I remember stressing about what to wear, feeling like a total imposter when I got there. Everyone seemed to know each other, floating around all cool and detached.
- Felt completely out of my depth.
- Tried to act natural, probably looked stiff as a board.
- Ended up leaving after like 45 minutes. Just wasn’t my scene.
Seeing all the Khaite NYFW coverage kinda hits that same nerve. It looks polished, yeah. Very ‘aspirational’ or whatever they call it. But man, it also feels so far removed from regular life. Like a club you need a secret password for.
Maybe that’s the point? I don’t know. It’s slick marketing, gotta give them that. You see it, you recognize the name, you know it’s expensive. But actually connecting with it? That’s harder. For me, anyway.
So yeah, I looked into it. Saw the pictures, read some takes. It’s fashion, it does its thing. Looks cool from a distance, but feels like a whole different planet sometimes. Just my two cents after poking around a bit.
