Okay, let’s talk about my little adventure with those Adidas Sambas x CDG kicks. It all started when I saw these shoes online. I mean, Adidas Sambas are classics, right? But these, they had this extra something – a collaboration with Comme des Garçons. I just had to get them.
First thing I did was check the release date. Found out they were dropping on October 24th, 2024. Marked it on my calendar. Hyped!
On the day of the drop, I was ready. Or so I thought. I went straight to the Adidas website, found the Sambas, but guess what? Sold out! My size was gone in minutes. Man, that was a bummer. I tried a few other online stores, even checked out some that I’ve never heard of before, like 43einhalb. No luck. Everywhere I looked, they were either gone or selling for crazy prices. That really made me upset.
I didn’t give up though. I read somewhere that these Sambas were based on an old design from 2009, the Samba MN. So I started looking for those. Maybe I could find an old pair somewhere, who knows? I checked everywhere.
But while I was searching, I also read up a bit on the history of Sambas. Apparently, they were designed by the Adidas founder himself, Adolf Dassler, back in 1949. Pretty cool, right? They’re the second best-selling Adidas design ever. They were originally made for football, which is pretty obvious looking at them.
I found some reviews about the fit too. Most people say they fit true to size, but if you’ve got wide feet, go half a size up. I didn’t want to risk it, so I decided that if I ever got my hands on a pair, I’d go half a size up.
Then, I stumbled upon this video about the Wales Bonner x Adidas Sambas. They were from the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Now, those were some seriously stylish shoes. They looked kinda similar to the CDG ones, but with their own unique vibe. I was really into the look. It made me want to get the CDG ones even more!
After a few days, guess what? I saw a notification that a local store had a new stock of shoes. I rushed over there, and boom – they had the Adidas Sambas x CDG! I tried them on, and yeah, half a size up was perfect. I bought them on the spot!
So, that’s my story of getting the Adidas Sambas x CDG. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but hey, I got them in the end. These shoes are more than just a purchase for me, they are like a trophy after the chase. And the bonus? They are so stylish!
