Okay, so I’ve been wanting to change up my hair for a while, but I’m, like, super scared of doing anything too drastic. I finally decided to go for some caramel blonde highlights – baby steps, you know?
Getting Started
First things first, I scoured Pinterest for inspiration. I mean, hours. I wanted that perfect blend of sun-kissed and natural-looking. I finally found a few pictures that I absolutely loved and saved them to my phone.
The Salon Visit
Next up, I booked an appointment at this salon that my friend raved about. I was nervous, I’m not gonna lie. I showed the stylist the pictures I had saved, and we talked about what I wanted. We discussed the placement of the highlights, how light I wanted to go, and the overall tone. She seemed to really get what I was going for, which made me feel a lot better.
The Process
- First, she sectioned my hair. It felt like it took forever!
- Then, she mixed up the color. I have no idea what all went into it, but it smelled…interesting.
- She carefully painted the highlights onto my hair, using foils. This part was super tedious, but I just scrolled through Instagram to pass the time.
- Then, I sat under the dryer. It felt like my head was baking, seriously!
- Finally, she washed and conditioned my hair.
The Reveal
When she finally took the towel off, I was so excited. The color looked amazing! It was exactly the warm, caramel blonde I was hoping for. It blended so well with my natural hair color, and it looked so natural and sun-kissed.
I was, and still am, totally obsessed. The highlights really brightened up my face and gave my hair so much dimension. Seriously, it’s the perfect little change, and I’m so glad I finally did it!
I’ve been getting so many compliments on it. It was the perfect low-maintenance update, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to stick with this look for a while!
