Trying Out the Oak Lip Pencil
Okay, so I got my hands on this oak lip pencil the other day. Heard a bit about this shade, people saying it’s a good neutral, kinda brownish-nude. Decided to give it a proper go myself and see what the fuss was about.

First thing I did was just uncap it. Checked the point – it wasn’t super sharp, but looked usable straight away. Didn’t feel like sharpening it right then. The color looked pretty much like I expected, a sort of muted, woody brown. Held it up to my lips just to see how it might look against my skin tone. Seemed okay.
Getting Down to Application
So, I started by outlining my lips. Just followed my natural lip line, nothing fancy. The pencil went on pretty smoothly, I gotta say. Didn’t drag too much, which is good because I hate that scratchy feeling. The color came out nicely, not too faint, not too bold right off the bat. It was definitely that oaky, neutral brown shade.
After outlining, I decided to fill in my lips a bit with the same pencil. Just lightly shaded inside the lines I’d drawn. It gave a nice base color. It felt surprisingly creamy for a pencil, not dry like some can be. The color built up easily when I went over a few spots.
How It Wore Through the Day

Left it like that for a while, just the pencil. It felt comfortable, not heavy or sticky. Looked quite natural, like my lips but a bit more defined and with that brownish tint. Had a coffee later on, and yeah, some of it transferred onto the cup, which you’d expect. Checked in the mirror afterwards, the outline was still mostly there, but the filled-in color had faded a bit, especially in the center.
Later, I put a clear balm over it just to see how it played with other products. That worked fine, added a bit of moisture and shine. The pencil didn’t really feather or bleed out into the lines around my mouth, which is a big plus for me. Throughout the day, it faded reasonably gracefully, didn’t get patchy or weird looking.
Final Thoughts
So, using this oak lip pencil was a pretty straightforward experience.
- It applied easily.
- The texture was nice, not too dry.
- The color was a good, versatile neutral brown.
- It wore decently, though needed touch-ups after eating/drinking like most lip products.
Yeah, I think I’ll keep using this one. It’s a solid pencil for everyday wear, good for defining lips or as a base. Nothing revolutionary, maybe, but it does its job well. Happy I tried it out.
