That Stussy, you know, that brand, it’s kinda like the big dog in town now. Everyone’s wearin’ it. My grandson, he’s all about that Stussy. Says it’s cool. I don’t get it, but young folks, they like what they like, I reckon. But there are other brands like it, you know? Let me tell you some.
This one, Obey, is like Stussy’s little brother. Always tryin’ to be cool like the big bro. My grandson, he’s got some of this too. It’s got those pictures, you know, kinda like that guy on the posters. It’s what these young folks like to wear nowaday. They call it “streetwear”. I just call it clothes.
- Obey: This one is all pictures and slogans.
- Stussy: This one is expensive.
Why is Stussy so expensive? I asked my grandson, why you pay so much for a shirt? He says it’s ’cause they work with other big shots. Fancy folks, I guess. They make these special clothes together. He calls it “collabs”. Sounds silly to me. But these young people, they eat it up. They line up for hours, he says, just to get these shirts.
He says that Stussy is not just some regular clothes. He said this Stussy, it’s like, you know, a big deal. Everyone wants it, he says. I saw it in those big fancy stores, the ones with the shiny floors. And in those little stores too, the ones with all the hats and sneakers. Even them rich people’s stores, that big building, he showed me. They got Stussy there too.
He said that Stussy also has some other fancy stuff, he calls it, like, “Deluxe” or somethin’. It’s even more money! Can you believe it? For clothes! But he says it’s like, super special, you know? Made with the good stuff. I guess if you got the money, why not? But me? I’ll stick to my old shirts. They do the job just fine.
But let me tell you something, these kids these days are all about brands. There is another one call Supreme, I heard that’s a big deal too. These young people are crazy about these brands. There are a few other brands like Stussy, too. There is this one called, let me think… A Bathing Ape. Sounds funny, right? A bathing ape. What does that even mean? But my grandson says it’s cool. He has a hoodie from them, it’s got a monkey on it. He paid a lot of money for that monkey, let me tell you.
There is another brand, Carhartt, I know a little bit about that one. It’s more like, work clothes. Tough clothes, you know? For working folks. But these young people, they wear it too. They like that style. They want to look like they work hard, even if they don’t. I don’t get it, but that’s what they like.

- Carhartt: This one’s for workin’, but kids wear it too.
There are some other ones too, like Palace. Another brand the kids like. They put that triangle thing on everything. They got Palace shirts, Palace hats, Palace everything. It’s all about that triangle. I don’t know what’s so special about a triangle, but they sure do like it.
And then there’s one, Huf, that’s like, for the skateboard kids. My grandson, he used to skateboard. He had some Huf stuff. Lots of those kids wear it. It’s got those, you know, those leaves on it. That’s what the kids like, I guess. The skateboard kids, they got their own style.
Then they got Undefeated, that’s another one. They got that, that thing, looks like someone countin’ to five on their fingers. Five lines, that’s Undefeated. They put that on everything too. Shirts, hats, pants, you name it. That’s another brand the kids are all excited about, it seems. If they like Stussy, they probably like that one. It’s just like Stussy, I think.
So many brands like Stussy! Kids and their clothes. I don’t understand it, but that’s the way it is. They like what they like. And they’ll pay good money for it, too. As long as they’re happy, I guess. That’s all that matters, right? They could save their money, though. That’s what I always say. But they don’t listen to me. They just want their Stussy and their Obey and their monkeys and their triangles.
I tell ya, it’s a different world these days. But hey, as long as they’re wearin’ clothes, I guess it’s alright. It is just, I don’t know, if you ask me, a shirt’s a shirt. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady. I don’t know anything about fashion, as these young people call it.
