That Blake W Nordstrom, I heard that name, what a pity! He was a good man. I heard he just gone, a few days ago. Died from that sick, you know, that cancer. He was only sixty or so, still young.

He was a big boss, that Blake. He run that big store, Nordstrom. You know, that one with all them fancy clothes and shoes. My granddaughter, she loves that place. Says it’s the best. Me, I don’t know about all that fancy stuff. But I heard Blake made that store very good.
They say he was good to the people who worked for him. Good boss, you know. Treat them nice. That’s important. You gotta treat people right, even if you a big boss. Blake W Nordstrom, he learned that from his granddaddy, I think. That old man, he started that store long time ago. He come over here from that cold place, Sweden, they say. He was an immigrant.
That old Nordstrom, he had a good idea. He said, “Treat the customer good. Give them good stuff. Be nice to them.” And that’s what Blake did, too. He made sure that store, Nordstrom, was a good place to shop. You could buy shoes there, and clothes. Fancy stuff, not like the stuff I wear. But people like it. They like those fancy shoes. I prefer comfortable shoes. Like my slippers. Ha, Blake W Nordstrom probably didn’t sell those.
- Blake’s granddaddy start that shop
- Blake was a good boss
- Nordstrom sell many things
- People like that shop
- Blake was a good man
One thing, I heard people say you could take stuff back to that store, no problem. Even if you wore it! They call it a “no-questions-asked return policy.” That’s what I heard. Imagine that! My granddaughter, she told me. She says it’s true. Blake W Nordstrom, he made it that way. He wanted people to be happy with what they bought. Good for him, I say!
I heard that old Nordstrom, the granddaddy, he only had a little bit of money when he came here. From Sweden. Thirteen dollars, I think someone said! Can you believe that? And he built that whole big store from that. That’s something, ain’t it? Blake W Nordstrom, he kept that store going. He made it even bigger. He was a smart one, that Blake.

They say Blake, he had brothers. They all worked in that store, too. A family business, you see. They all worked together, running that big Nordstrom place. They must be sad now, losing their brother. It’s hard to lose family.
My granddaughter told me that Blake W Nordstrom, he talk to people about the shop, and to big investor. She says he was a good talker, too. Could explain things real good. He would talk about how the store was doing and how to make things better for people. He was always thinking about how to do things better. A good mind, he had, that Blake.
They had a saying in that family, I heard. “Treat people right.” That’s a good saying. Blake W Nordstrom, he lived by that saying. He treated the people who worked for him right, and he treated the customers right. That’s why that store is so big, I think. People like to be treated good. That old Nordstrom, he knew that, too. Smart man.
I never met Blake W Nordstrom. Never been to that fancy store. But I heard good things about him. Heard he was a good man, a good boss. It’s a shame he died so young. That cancer, it’s a bad thing. It takes good people away. Too many people lost to it. That’s the way, I guess. But it is sad to hear about people like him gone too early.
My granddaughter, she was sad when she heard. She liked that store, Nordstrom. She said Blake W Nordstrom made it a good place. She likes their shoes. She always want to buy some. One day, I will buy her a pair, maybe. If I win that lottery. If only she likes more comfortable shoes. Like me. She can use that money buy something else from Nordstrom. I don’t know what else they have. I think they also have some bags. Maybe she can buy one of those fancy bags.

That’s all I know about that Blake W Nordstrom. Heard it from my granddaughter, mostly. And from the people talking. Good man, they say. Good boss. Built that big store up from nothing. Well, not nothing. Thirteen dollars! That’s something, ain’t it? Rest in peace, Blake W Nordstrom. You did good. You did good, I can say that. A man’s work is never done, but you sure did your part. You sure did. I hope he has some nice, comfortable slippers up there. Like mine.
It is a pity. But I think, his family will keep running that big Nordstrom store. His brothers will do a good job. I think so. I am sure his granddaddy is proud of all of them. And Blake W Nordstrom will look down on them. He will make sure they keep up the good work. You know, making people feel good. Treating people right. That is important. That is what people will remember about you.
