Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to share this with you all for a while now. I recently dove into the world of making my own shoes – yeah, you heard that right, making them from scratch. And not just any shoes, but a pair of “Betzbe” shoes. Let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey.
It all started when I stumbled upon some posts about this designer, Betzbe Gonzlez. Apparently, she’s all about that fancy, Italian craftsmanship vibe, blending elegance with a sporty twist. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” Seemed like a cool challenge, and I’ve always been a bit of a DIY enthusiast.
First off, I had to do some digging. Found out Betzbe is not just a designer, but also a mom, a basketball coach, and a bunch of other things. Busy lady! Anyway, her shoes are supposed to be all handmade and super comfy, which sounded perfect. I mean, who doesn’t want shoes that mold to your feet?
So, I got to work. The whole process was a bit of a learning curve. I started with gathering materials. The design I was aiming for had this suede body with some colorful elastic straps. Looked chic and comfy, just what I was going for. I managed to find some decent quality leather and the right kind of elastic. It wasn’t exactly “75% polyester 25% elastane,” but hey, it worked.
- Sourcing the Materials: This was a bit of a treasure hunt. I went to a bunch of local stores and even browsed some online shops.
- Designing: I sketched out the design based on what I saw of Betzbe’s work. Rounded, open-toe, about a 100mm heel – the whole shebang.
- Cutting and Sewing: This is where things got real. Cutting leather is no joke, and let me tell you, sewing it is a whole other level of tricky.
The first few attempts were, well, let’s just say they were “learning experiences.” But I kept at it, and after a few tries, I started to get the hang of it. The stitching, the gluing, getting the shape right – it was all coming together.
The Final Stretch
Finally, after what felt like forever, I had a pair of shoes that actually looked like shoes. And not just any shoes, but something that kinda resembled those fancy Betzbe ones. I even added my own little twist to the design, because why not?
Putting them on for the first time was a moment, I won’t lie. They were surprisingly comfortable, and they actually looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. I wore them around the house, then to the store, and even got a few compliments. It was such a rewarding feeling.
So, yeah, that’s my Betzbe shoe-making adventure. It was a lot of work, a bit of frustration, but totally worth it in the end. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I’d say go for it. It’s a great way to get creative and you end up with something totally unique and personal. Plus, you get to say you made your own shoes, which is pretty cool, right?
