Okay, so it’s that time of year again, and I was totally stumped on what to get my students. I teach fifth grade, so they’re not little kids anymore, but they’re not quite teenagers either. It’s a tricky age!
First, I brainstormed a bunch of general ideas. I thought about:
- Fun stuff, like games or little toys.
- Practical things, maybe school supplies they could actually use.
- Something personalized, to make it feel a bit more special.
- Stuff that wouldn’t break the bank, ’cause, you know, teacher’s salary!
Then, I hit up some stores. I started with the dollar store, just to see if anything jumped out at me. I found some cute little notebooks and some colorful pens, which got the ball rolling.
Next, I checked out a bigger store. I saw some cool science kits, but they were a little too pricey for each student. I also looked at some fun socks, and thought about maybe getting everyone a pair of crazy, themed socks.
The Final Choice!
Finally, I decided to go with a combination of things. I wanted it to be something they could enjoy, but also something a little useful. Here’s what I ended up getting:
- Small notebooks: Each student is getting a blank notebook, so they can keep their own notes.
- Fun Pens:I found some packs of pens that have the rainbow colors.
- Candy Canes: ‘Cause it’s Christmas! Gotta have a little treat.
I spent a couple of hours putting all the little gifts together. I found some simple small bags and placed one notebook, a set of color pens,and a candy cane in each. Easy peasy!
I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out. It’s nothing extravagant, but I think the kids will appreciate the thought. And honestly, seeing their happy faces is the best gift of all!
