Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with this pair of ASICS, trying to give them a bit of a makeover. I wanted to share the whole process, ’cause why not? I picked up this basic pair of white ASICS a while back. Nothing fancy, just your standard white sneakers. My goal was to jazz them up with some purple and green. Sounded cool in my head, at least.

Getting Started
First things first, I gathered my supplies. I got some fabric paint in purple and green, naturally. I also grabbed some brushes – a couple of different sizes for the details and the bigger areas. And tape! Can’t forget the painter’s tape. That stuff is a lifesaver when you want to keep your paint job neat.
Prepping the Shoes
Before I went wild with the colors, I had to prep the shoes. I cleaned them up real good to make sure there was no dirt or anything that would mess up the paint. Then came the fun part – taping. I spent a good chunk of time taping off the areas I didn’t want to paint. I wanted to create some kind of pattern, so I taped off stripes and shapes, making sure the tape was really stuck on there.
Painting Process
- Started with the base: I decided to go with purple as my base color. I applied a thin coat first, letting it dry completely before adding another. It took about three coats to get a nice, solid purple. I was pretty stoked with how it was looking.
- Adding the green: Once the purple was all set, I carefully removed some of the tape to reveal the areas I wanted to paint green. I used a smaller brush for this to get into the corners and keep the edges sharp. The green went on in a couple of coats, too.
- Details, details, details: With the main colors down, I took off the rest of the tape. There were a few spots where the paint had bled a bit, so I touched those up with a tiny brush. It took some patience, but it was worth it to clean up those lines.
The Final Touches
After all the painting was done and dried, I sprayed the shoes with a sealant. Just wanted to make sure my hard work would last. I let them sit for a day or two, just to be sure everything was fully set.
Wearing Them Out
Finally, I laced them up and took them out for a spin. It felt pretty awesome to rock a pair of shoes that I customized myself. Got a few compliments, too, which was a nice bonus. It was a fun project, and I’m pretty happy with how my purple and green ASICS turned out.
It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s the fun of it. I got to mess around with some colors and create something unique. If you’re thinking about customizing your own shoes, I say go for it. It’s a cool way to express yourself, and it’s not as hard as it might seem.

And there you have it, that’s my little story about customizing my ASICS sneakers. Hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to share any thoughts or your own shoe customization adventures!
