So, I’ve been really getting into movies about the great outdoors lately. You know, the kind that makes you want to pack a bag and head for the hills. I figured I’d share some of my favorites and how I went about finding and watching them. It all started with a lazy Sunday afternoon. I was flipping through channels, nothing good on. Then I remembered a friend talking about this movie, “The Call of the Wild.” Sounded interesting, so I looked it up.

First off, finding where to watch these movies was a bit of a scavenger hunt. Some were on streaming services, others I had to rent. “The Call of the Wild,” I found it streaming, which was easy. I watched it and was hooked. It’s about this dog, Buck, who gets taken from his comfy home and ends up in the Alaskan wilderness. It’s a real adventure.

After that, I started searching for similar movies. I was really on a roll. I made a list of movies that seemed interesting, based on what I was reading online. Next up was “180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless.” This one’s more of a documentary, following a guy who retraces a famous trip to Patagonia. It’s got stunning scenery and a cool message about adventure and the environment. Had to rent this one, but it was totally worth it.

Watching these movies got me thinking about all the amazing places out there. I started making a list of other movies in this genre. It was fun, like being a movie explorer. I even started planning my own little outdoor adventures, inspired by these films. Nothing too crazy, just some hikes and maybe camping later in the year.

Here’s a list I put together of some of the movies I watched and some I plan to watch:

  • The Call of the Wild – Watched it, loved the adventure and the dog.
  • 180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless – Watched it, the scenery was breathtaking.

It’s been a fun journey, exploring these movies. Each one’s like a mini-vacation, and they really make you appreciate the beauty of nature. Plus, it’s a nice break from the usual stuff I watch. If you’re into nature and adventure, you should definitely check some of these out. They might just inspire you to plan your own adventure, even if it’s just a walk in a nearby park.
