Okay so last Thursday I decided I needed some fresh kicks and clothes. Nike stuff always catches my eye, especially that Kim Jones collab. Sounds fancy, right? Well, wanted to see if it’s worth the hype AND the cash. Grabbed my phone and just dove in.
What Caught My Eye First
Started scrolling everywhere online – Nike’s own site, big department stores, some smaller sportswear spots too. Noticed that NikeLab stuff pops up a lot with Kim Jones. Some pieces look super sleek, like that tailored track pant. Others? Total ninja vibes with dark colors and weird pockets. Clicked on basically every listing that looked remotely interesting.
The Trying-On Mission (Chaos Included)
Couldn’t just buy online blind! Headed downtown. Hit up three different Nike stores and two fancy boutiques carrying the collection. Man, stock was all over the place. Found one place with maybe three items total. Another spot had that zip-up hoodie I kept seeing online. Slung it on. Felt good, kinda heavy, nice material. But the price tag? Nearly choked. $250 for a hoodie?! Had to put it back gently.
Found the track pants at another spot. These were slick. Put ’em on. Fit super clean, really unique cut. Almost perfect. Then saw the tag: $290. Yeah, nah. Wallet cried quietly. Saw some tees too. Simple designs, cool fabric blends. Felt nice, but you’re paying serious dough just for that name woven in.
Deal Detective Mode
Left empty-handed from the stores, obviously. Back to couch scrolling, stubborn mode ON. Figured somebody, somewhere must have a discount. Searched like crazy. Found a few things:
- End Clothing had one tee on sale. Only it was size XXL. Womp womp.
- Another random site had only the neon green shorts. Not my vibe.
- Most ‘sales’ were just tiny markdowns, like $20 off $300 pants. Big whoop.
Seemed like legit good deals on the pieces people actually wanted? Basically mythical creatures.
How Different Styles Stack Up
Seeing things in person changed the game. That hoodie? Quality felt premium, thick cotton, nice zipper. But man, was it plain. Pants had amazing tailoring – stood out big time. Tees were okay, good fabric, but super basic design-wise. Honestly, felt like you were mainly paying for the Kim Jones name and that specific NikeLab connection.
Reality Check & Final Take
Wanted to walk away with something. Really did. But hitting ‘buy’ on a $300 hoodie or pants felt nuts. Looked at my regular Nike hoodie bought last year. Paid maybe $80. Did the Kim Jones feel three times better? Nope. Not even close. Maybe if you’re super into designer labels and have cash to throw? Makes sense then. For me wanting something cool but practical? Way over the top price-wise. Ended up just getting some plain black joggers elsewhere. Mission for Kim Jones gear? Officially aborted. Sticking to window shopping on that one.
