First things first, I hit up the Nike By You platform. You know, that place where you can basically design your own shoes? It’s a dangerous place for a sneakerhead like me, trust me.

I started by choosing the Dunk Low as my base. Classic, clean, can’t go wrong, right? Then came the fun part – picking the colors. I wanted something that screamed “LA,” but not in an obvious, Lakers-purple-and-gold kinda way. I envisioned something more subtle, something that captured the vibe of the city, you know?

Next up, I dove into the material selection. Leather was a no-brainer for the base, but I wanted to mix things up a bit. So, I opted for a suede Swoosh in a kinda faded blue. It reminded me of the ocean breeze on a sunny day in Santa Monica.

Then came the sole. This was tough. Do I go with a classic white sole? Or do I add a pop of color? After much deliberation, I went with a gum sole. It just gave the shoe a vintage, lived-in feel that I was going for.

Now, here’s where things got interesting. The Nike By You platform lets you add custom text to the heel. I almost went with “LA,” but then I thought, nah, that’s too predictable. Instead, I chose my initials and the year I first visited LA. A personal touch, ya dig?

After playing around with the design for like, three hours (no joke!), I finally settled on a color scheme I was happy with. I hit the “order” button and waited impatiently for my custom Dunks to arrive.

Fast forward a few weeks, and the package finally showed up. I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. And let me tell you, the shoes looked even better in person. The colors were perfect, the materials were top-notch, and the fit was on point.

I’ve been rocking these Dunks all over town, and I’ve been getting compliments left and right. People are always asking me where I got them, and I love telling them that I designed them myself.
