Are Chanel Strappy Sandals Worth It? See Our Honest Review!

Okay, so I’d been seeing these Chanel strappy sandals everywhere, you know? The ones people kinda call ‘dad sandals’. For ages, I was like, nah, not for me. But then, they just kept popping up, season after season. Chanel kept tweaking them, different colors, saw some backless ones too which looked kinda cool.

Deciding to Look Into It

So, curiosity got the better of me. I started actually looking them up, trying to figure out what the deal was. First thing I noticed – the price. Wowza. Saw online they could start around twelve hundred bucks and go way higher, easily over two grand. Definitely an investment piece, not just a casual buy.

Then came the sizing puzzle. Heard mixed things. Some folks said Chanel shoes run small, others said true to size. Found out they use French sizing (FR), which is different. Specifically for sandals and flats, especially the lambskin ones, people mentioned they can be narrow. My feet aren’t super wide, but definitely not narrow either, so I figured I’d probably need to size up, maybe half a size, just to be safe. Better a little loose than painfully tight, right?

The Hunt and Purchase

Finding the exact pair I wanted wasn’t super straightforward. They sell out fast. I didn’t want to deal with online guessing games for sizing, especially with that price tag. So, I actually went to a boutique. Wanted to feel them, try them on properly. Spent a good while there, trying a couple of sizes. The sales assistant was helpful, confirmed the sizing thing – suggesting going up half a size was common.

Finally settled on a classic black pair. Tried my usual size – felt a bit snug. Tried the half size up – much better. Roomy, but not sloppy. Pulled the trigger. Felt kinda wild spending that much on sandals, gotta be honest.

First Wear and Impressions

Got them home. Unboxed them carefully. They definitely looked substantial, well-made. The straps felt secure. First time wearing them out, just for a quick coffee run. Felt a bit clunky initially, not gonna lie. They’re not delicate little things. But the footbed was surprisingly comfy, kinda molded. The straps didn’t rub immediately, which was a good sign.

Key things I noticed:

  • Sizing up was the right call for me.
  • They felt secure on my feet because of the straps.
  • Definitely have that chunky ‘dad sandal’ vibe, but in a luxe way.

Living With Them

Wore them quite a bit over the summer. They actually broke in pretty nicely. Paired them with jeans, dresses, shorts – surprisingly versatile. They added a kind of cool, laid-back edge to outfits. Comfort-wise, they were good for walking around town, shopping, that sort of thing. Wouldn’t go hiking in them, obviously, but for everyday wear, they held up.

Did I worry about scuffing them? Yeah, a bit. Tried to be mindful of where I walked. Gave them a gentle wipe down now and then. For the price, you wanna keep ’em looking decent.

So, Worth It?

Look, they’re expensive sandals. No way around that. But have I worn them a ton? Yes. Are they comfortable enough for regular use? Yes. Do they look cool (if you like that style)? I think so. The sizing advice about going up half a size, especially if you’re unsure or don’t have narrow feet, was spot on. They seem durable too. It wasn’t an impulse buy, more like a researched plunge. Happy I got them, they filled a specific spot in my shoe collection I didn’t know I needed.
