Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Let the Good Times Roll” perfume hack all over my FYP, and I had to try it. You know, the one where you supposedly make your own Lush dupe? I’m a sucker for anything that smells sweet and delicious, so I was all in.

Gathering My Supplies

First, I grabbed all the stuff I needed. Thankfully, it was pretty basic:

  • Some popcorn kernels (unpopped, obviously!)
  • A little bit of coconut oil (I used the solid kind)
  • My favorite vanilla-y perfume (the one I always get compliments on)
  • A small, cute jar with a lid

The Popcorn Experiment

I started by melting a tiny bit of the coconut oil in a pan. Just enough to coat the bottom. Then, I tossed in a handful of popcorn kernels and put the lid on. I shook the pan around a bit, just like I was making regular popcorn, but I was really careful not to let it actually pop. The goal was to get them all toasty and fragrant, not to make a snack.

It took a little while, and I had to keep the heat super low. I kept checking on them, lifting the lid and giving the pan a shake. Slowly but surely, the kernels started to turn a golden brown color, and my kitchen started to smell amazing – like warm, buttery caramel corn. That was my cue!

Infusion Time!

Once the kernels were nice and toasted, I took the pan off the heat and carefully poured them into my little jar. Then, I sprayed a few good spritzes of my vanilla perfume right into the jar, on top of the warm kernels. I screwed the lid on tight and gave it a good shake to mix everything up.

The Waiting Game

Now for the hardest part: waiting. I placed my cute little fragrance time capsule on top of the microwave, to keep it warm so it can infuse and let it sit there for, I don’t know, about 24 hours. I know, I know, I’m impatient! But I figured the longer it sits, the stronger the scent will be. I almost put a label on it. And then I was done.

The Final Result

Okay, so after a full day of anticipation, I finally opened the jar. And…? It actually worked! The kernels had absorbed the vanilla perfume, and the whole thing had this really warm, sweet, gourmand scent. It’s not exactly like “Let the Good Times Roll” from Lush, but it’s definitely in the same family. I feel like a kitchen witch or something.

I’ve been dabbing a little bit of the oil from the jar onto my wrists, and it’s been lasting for a surprisingly long time. Plus, I get to tell everyone I’m wearing “homemade perfume,” which is pretty cool. And that’s the story of my DIY perfume.
