Is Tissot a Luxury Brand? Get the Answer and More Here!

Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another deep dive into the world of watches! Today, I’m tackling a question that’s been on my mind for a while: Is Tissot a luxury brand? I’ve always been fascinated by watches, but I’m no expert, just a guy who appreciates a good timepiece and likes to figure things out for myself.

So, I started where anyone would – good old Google. I typed in “is Tissot a luxury brand” and started scrolling. The first few results were a mixed bag. Some said, “Yeah, sure,” others were like, “Nah, not really,” and some were just straight-up confusing. It seemed like nobody could agree on a straight answer.

I dug a little deeper. I found out that Tissot isn’t up there with the big shots like Rolex or Patek Philippe. Those guys are in a whole different league, like, they’re playing a different sport entirely. Tissot is more like what people call a “premium” or “mid-range” brand. Think of it like this: Rolex is a fancy five-star restaurant, while Tissot is that really nice bistro you love going to. Still great quality, but not quite as, you know, over-the-top expensive.

But here’s where it gets interesting. Apparently, Tissot does have some pricier watches. I stumbled upon their “solid 18k gold” collection, and man, those are pretty! We’re talking around $3,000 for some of those bad boys. That’s a chunk of change, for sure. There was this one watch, the “Tissot Vintage Powermatic 80,” in yellow gold that really caught my eye. It’s like they took the best of the old-school designs and gave it a modern twist.

I also learned that Tissot has been climbing up the ranks in the watch world. They moved up two whole spots in some 2023 ranking thing I found. It’s like they’re the underdog that’s slowly but surely making a name for themselves. They jumped from 12th to 10th, leaving Tudor in the dust, which dropped from 15th to 17th. I found that pretty cool.

Then, I went down the history rabbit hole. Turns out, Tissot has been around since, get this, 1853! That’s like, ancient in watch years. They’re a Swiss company, which makes sense because everyone knows the Swiss are the kings of watchmaking. They’ve even had some famous people wearing their watches, like George Clooney and LeBron James. That’s some serious star power right there.

My Takeaway

  • Tissot isn’t a “luxury” brand in the same way Rolex is, but they’re definitely not cheap either. They’re somewhere in the middle, which I think is a pretty sweet spot.
  • They’ve got a long history and a good reputation. Over 160 years in the business! That’s older than my grandpa, and he’s pretty old!
  • They make some really nice watches. Both affordable and those on the more expensive side. There is one for everyone.

So, is Tissot a luxury brand? I guess it depends on how you define “luxury.” But for me, they’re a solid, reputable brand that makes quality watches, and I wouldn’t mind having one on my wrist. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments!
