Alright, so I saw this thing online about a Hermès pop-up in New York City, something called “Petit h.” Sounded fancy, so I thought, why not? I marked it on my calendar – it was happening from October 11 to October 26. I made my way to the Hermès store on Madison Avenue.
When I got there, the place was buzzing. They’d turned the whole store into this colorful, kind of crazy wonderland. The whole thing was about upcycling, which, you know, is using old stuff to make new stuff. It felt a bit like walking into an artist’s dream or something.
So, this Petit h thing is apparently a big deal for Hermès. It is all about being creative and not wasting things. They had all these displays set up, showing off how they turn scraps and leftovers into new, cool things. I wandered around, checking out all the different setups. They had everything from little trinkets to some pretty wild accessories, it is quite interesting.
Then, I stumbled upon this workshop area. It is like a little crafting corner where you could make your own stuff using Hermès materials. They called it “discovering your own creative potential” and encouraged people to make “a rather amusing but wearable accessory.” I gave it a shot and tried to put together something that wouldn’t look too ridiculous. It was harder than I thought, but pretty fun.
I spent a good couple of hours there, just soaking it all in. It was a neat experience, seeing a big luxury brand like Hermès doing something so hands-on and focused on sustainability. Plus, I got a little handmade souvenir out of it, which is always a bonus.
After that, I headed out, grabbing a coffee nearby and people-watching for a bit. It was one of those classic New York days, you know? Busy, a little chaotic, but full of surprises. I am glad that I went the pop up.
And that was pretty much my day at the Hermès Petit h pop-up. It was a cool mix of luxury, creativity, and a bit of DIY fun. Definitely a different way to spend an afternoon in the city.
