The Mystery of Bulova Hidden Spaceviews: What Year Were They Made? Lets Investigate!

That Bulova, you know, they made them fancy watches. I heard they called it Spaceview, like looking into the sky or something. When were they made? I don’t know much, but I heard some things.

The Mystery of Bulova Hidden Spaceviews: What Year Were They Made? Lets Investigate!

Bulova Spaceview, What’s That?

Well, them Bulova folks, they started making watches way back, like 1875, I heard. Long time ago. Then, someone told me in 1960, they came up with something new, they called it “Accutron”. Used a tuning fork, not like the regular ticking ones. That was a big deal then, them Accutron watches, yeah. Then they made this Spaceview, no dial, just see-through, like looking into, well, space, I guess. Shows all the little things inside, moving and all. They weren’t planning on making it that way at first, you know. Just made regular watches, but folks liked seeing the insides, so they made more like that.

They started with them regular dials, like any other watch. But people got curious, wanted to see what made it tick. So, Bulova, they took off the dial, showed all them little gears and wires. That’s how the Spaceview thing started, I reckon. Some say, it was just some watches that were meant to be shown in store, to show off how they were made. They were just supposed to be, like, for show, you know? But people, they saw them and they liked them. They wanted to wear them!

When Did They Make Them Bulova Spaceviews?

So, these Spaceview things, they didn’t come right away. First, it was just them Accutron watches, in 1960. Then, a few years later, they started showing up, these see-through ones. Don’t know the exact year, but it was after 1960 for sure. They made some expensive ones, all gold and such. Then, they made others, not so fancy, but still see-through. Them were the ones most folks got, I think.

  • First Accutron: 1960
  • Spaceview: A few years after
  • Gold ones: Fewer sold
  • Other ones: More common

I heard they had a factory in America and one in Switzerland, making watches for different places. Them Swiss ones made lots of Spaceviews, I heard. But the American made some too. It was a big thing, everyone wanted one for a while there.

Bulova Spaceview, Why So Special?

Why was everyone so excited about them? Well, back then, it was new, you know? Nobody had seen a watch like that before, all open like that. It was like magic, seeing all them little parts working. Plus, they were good watches, kept good time. That Accutron thing was supposed to be real accurate, more than other watches.

They had these codes, too, on the back, I think. Or maybe inside. You gotta open it up to see. Tells you when it was made. Like, numbers and letters. I don’t know how it works, but some folks, they collect them old watches, they know all about it. They can tell you what year your watch was made just by looking at that code. Something about 1950 to 2009, they used them codes.

Someone told me in 2020 they started making the Spaceview again! But different. Something about static electricity, I don’t really understand. But it’s the same idea, you know, see-through. They called it “Accutron Space View 2020” and “Accutron DNA”. Fancy names. Still expensive though. They make them in New York City now, I heard. They used to be owned by some American company, but now a Japanese one owns them. But they still make them Bulova watches. Always have.

So that’s what I know about them Bulova Spaceview watches, I can not tell you the specific year, but it was after 1960. They were a big thing, way back when. Still are, I guess, to some folks.

If you got one of them old Spaceview watches, hold onto it. Might be worth something someday. Especially them gold ones. But even the regular ones, people like them. They like that old stuff, you know. Reminds them of the old days.

They were surely something else. People were crazy for them Spaceview watches. They wanted to see all them insides, all them little parts moving. Made them feel like they had something special, I guess. Something from the future, even though it was made a long time ago.

I don’t know much about fancy watches but, I think, they are pretty. They don’t make them like that anymore. Not many, anyway. Everything’s all digital now, all screens and such. Not the same, you know? Them old watches, they had something special. A little piece of history, right there on your wrist.

So, if you ever see one of them old Bulova Spaceview watches, take a good look. It’s a little piece of the past, right there. And remember, they were made sometime after 1960. That’s all I know for sure.
