You see, I heard some young folks talking ’bout this thing, they say “engineered garments dr martens”. I don’t know what it is, but it got me thinkin’. They say it’s some kind of shoes, but not just any shoes. They say it’s a big deal. They kept sayin’ it’s a “collab” somethin’. Sounds fancy, huh?
These young’uns, they always talkin’ ’bout brands and whatnot. This “Dr. Martens”, I heard that name before. Seems like they make boots, big ones, that them factory workers used to wear. Tough boots, I reckon. And these “Engineered Garments”, that’s another one. Sounds like somethin’ a mechanic would wear. Maybe somethin’ for buildin’.
They say this Dr. Martens, it used to be for the workin’ folks. Postmen, police, you name it. Then some rough kids, these “skinheads” they call ’em, started wearin’ ’em. Makes sense, I guess, needin’ tough boots for roughhousin’. Then later, the music kids got into ’em. Punks and such. They like to look tough too, I suppose. They wear these boots, and everyone knows they’re some sort of rebel.
I remember back in the day, we just had our regular shoes. Nothin’ fancy. Just somethin’ to keep your feet from the ground. Didn’t have all these different names and brands. Shoes were shoes, that’s all. Now there is a lot of styles, I can’t even tell what they are.
But these engineered garments dr martens, they somethin’ special, I guess. These two, Dr. Martens and Engineered Garments, they got together, like a couple of farmers sharin’ a plow. Made somethin’ new, somethin’ different. That’s what they say “collab” means, two get together.
- They say it’s a shoe.
- They say it’s like their old shoes, the 1461. Sounds like a tractor model number or somethin’.
- They say this new shoe, it’s a mix of three different old shoes! Imagine that, three shoes in one. I can’t imagine how that even work.
I seen some pictures. They got these shoes, black and some other color, a dark red like an old barn. Look kinda fancy, but tough, like they could handle a good kickin’. They used some fancy leather, I saw a picture, looks pretty. They say it’s “dappled” or somethin’. And some other part is “suede”. I don’t know what those words mean, but they look nice enough, I reckon.
These young folks, they excited about this engineered garments dr martens thing. They sayin’ you gotta “sign up” to know when it’s comin’ out. Like it’s some big secret or somethin’. Then they say you can buy ’em online, on the “*”. Imagine that, buyin’ shoes on a computer! And they say if you spend 50, you don’t have to pay for them to send it to you. Back in my day, we just walk to the store, and that is free.
This ain’t the first time these two, Dr. Martens and Engineered Garments, got together. They done it before, four times! Must be gettin’ along real good to keep workin’ together like that. This is the fifth one they make. I guess people like them, buyin’ these special shoes.
They make a big fuss about it on the internet. I saw somethin’, they call it “Instagram”. Lots of folks talkin’ about it there, sayin’ how they want these shoes. These young people are crazy about these shoes. One post has 19K likes, and 75 comments. What a big number! Don’t know what that means but it sounds a lot.
I guess these engineered garments dr martens shoes are a big deal. Maybe I’ll ask my grandson about ’em. He’s always wearin’ those Dr. Martens boots. Maybe he’ll want a pair of these new ones. I don’t know if I need a pair of those. My old shoes are good enough.
Well, I still don’t rightly understand what all the fuss is about. But these young people are always excited about these things. It is always something new. It’s a different world these days. Times change, and shoes change with it, I reckon. But one thing is for sure, there is always somethin’ new to talk about.
