Why I decided to try Michael Kors small shoulder bags
Needed a new bag for quick trips after my old one got wrecked during grocery shopping. Grabbed my busted bag, threw it in the trash, and drove straight to the mall. Saw the MK section from across the store and bee-lined there.
The small shoulder bags caught my eye first. Picked up three different styles, feeling the material and testing the straps. The sales lady kept suggesting bigger ones, but I shook my head. “Nah, these small ones are perfect for my wallet and phone” I told her. Wanted something that wouldn’t dig into my shoulder.
Testing them out in real life
Bought the black Sutton bag because it looked sleek. First day using it:
- Morning coffee run: Slid wallet, keys and phone in – easy access at Starbucks
- Work commute: Didn’t bang against my hip walking to subway like my old tote did
- Happy hour: Flipped the strap to crossbody mode so it wouldn’t slip off dancing
By dinner time, two friends already asked where I got it. Felt like a champ.
What worked and what sucked after 2 weeks
Good stuff:
- Leather held up when I accidentally scraped against brick wall
- Easy to clean after kid smeared ice cream on it – wiped right off
- Surprisingly fits sunglasses case if I take out my lip balm
Annoying bits:

- Strap twisted when it was windy – had to keep adjusting
- Zipper got stuck one morning when I was rushing
- Forgot it’s not waterproof when rain caught me off guard
Why I’m keeping it anyway
Got compliments every single time I wore it out. People kept saying “Wow your bag looks perfect for concerts!” Yeah, it does. The size forces me to carry only essentials – no junk. Saw my friend struggling with her giant purse at the movies while I slipped my compact bag under the seat easily.
Is it worth it? Yeah if you grab stuff and go all the time. Tried stuffing it like regular bags? Bad news. But as my weekend warrior? Freaking love it. Even my husband noticed it matches with everything – and that dude never notices anything.
