So today I just had to check out what all the buzz was about with Alchemy 43 up on the Upper East Side. You hear stuff, right? People talking. Wanted to see it with my own eyes.
Getting There Was Half the Story
Woke up kinda early after seeing that Instagram story last night. Threw on some decent clothes – didn’t wanna look totally outta place, you know? Hopped on the subway, got off at like 77th or something. Walked around scanning building numbers for a solid five minutes before spotting the sign. Place was tucked away, kinda unassuming from the street level except for that logo.

Told ’em I was curious about their services nearby, might be interested sometime. They didn’t push hard at all – relief! Just handed over a little card thing listing stuff. Stood off to the side pretending to read it closely while really just eyeballing the place and the other folks coming and going.
- Saw a couple people walk in looking kinda stressed. Left an hour later looking like they’d had three extra hours of sleep. Weird.
- Overheard snippets about “microcurrent” and “hydrafacial.” Sounded like sci-fi mixed with spa day.
- Noticed how calm everyone working there seemed. Like unnervingly calm. Made you feel like maybe you were the weird one for breathing normally.
Took a peek at their menu thing properly while sipping their cucumber water (free! points for that). The services? All sounded vaguely magical and wildly specific:
Facial Sculpting? Lymphatic Drainage? Like, I know what a facial is. I know what sculpting is. Put ’em together and suddenly I’m lost. And “drainage”? Sounds like plumbing, not pampering. But hey, the people leaving looked pleased!
Wrapping My Head Around It
Hung around another ten minutes or so. Nobody rushed me out, which was cool. Honestly, the whole thing felt less like a salon or spa and more like… a little self-care laboratory? Everything looked precise. Tools seemed tiny and futuristic. Even the lighting was perfect – flattering but bright enough to actually see stuff.
Left feeling kinda intrigued but still a little clueless about what half that stuff actually does. Walked back towards Lex turning the card over in my hand. Figured, okay, maybe I get it now. That crowd chasing the next level of chill? The folks who want “tweaked” not “transformed”? This place nails that. It’s not for the cheap or the impatient. It’s for the UES crew that wants high-tech glow-up maintenance nearby, like ordering groceries. Effortless. Targeted. Probably costs a pretty penny.
Gotta say, seeing it work nearby today demystified it a bit. Still not sure if I’d shell out for “Facial Cupping,” but hey, respect the hustle. They’ve definitely carved out a spot.
