So, I’d been kinda curious about crystals for a while. You hear stuff, you know? And amethyst, that purple one, it kept coming up. Then someone, I don’t even remember who, mentioned something about which hand you wear it on, and that got me thinking. It’s funny the little things that stick in your head.
Most of what I’d casually read or heard people say was about wearing crystals on your left hand. Something about receiving energy, that kind of thing. But then I stumbled across this idea that the right hand was different. More about giving out energy, or projecting, or even helping to shield you a bit from negativity. Not like a magic force field, but more like, helping you manage your own output, if that makes sense. I wasn’t trying to become some kind of energy guru, but I was definitely intrigued enough to try.
So, I thought, “Okay, let’s give this a whirl.” I went out and got myself a pretty simple amethyst bracelet. Nothing too flashy, just a string of polished stones. The first thing I did was slip it onto my right wrist. It felt a little weird at first, mainly because I’m not used to wearing anything on my right hand. I usually load up my left if I wear any jewelry at all. But I was committed to the experiment, so on it stayed.
For the first few days, to be totally honest, I didn’t notice much. No sudden revelations, no dramatic shifts. I just went about my business. But I made a point to keep wearing it. After about a week, maybe closer to two, I started to notice something subtle. I felt… I guess the word is more deliberate? Like, especially when I was about to interact with people or respond to something, particularly if I was feeling a bit stressed or annoyed.
I remember this one specific time, there was a work meeting that got pretty heated. My usual reaction might have been to jump in, maybe say something a bit sharp. But I found myself sort of unconsciously fiddling with the amethyst on my wrist. And I actually paused. I took a breath. When I finally did speak, it was much calmer, more measured. Now, was it the amethyst? Was it just me being more aware because I was trying this “thing”? Who knows, right? But it happened, and it felt different.
I also started to feel, and this is where it might sound a bit out there, but I felt a bit less… emotionally drained at the end of some days. Especially on days when I had to deal with more challenging personalities or situations. It wasn’t like I was suddenly immune to stress, not at all. But it was like, my own energy felt a bit more contained, a bit less frayed.
I didn’t wear it 24/7. Sometimes I’d take it off before bed, just felt better to give my skin a break. Other days, I’d completely forget I had it on until I glanced down. It wasn’t a magic cure-all. If I had a tough deadline, the stress was still there. The amethyst didn’t magically do my work for me, unfortunately!
So, where am I at with it now? I still wear it pretty regularly on my right hand. Not every single day, I’m not super strict about it. But more often than not, it’s there. I don’t think it’s transformed me into a Zen master or anything. But I do believe it’s acted as a sort of gentle, physical reminder. A little nudge to be more mindful, especially about the energy I’m putting out there and how I’m reacting to things. Maybe it’s a placebo effect. Maybe there’s something to it. Honestly, I don’t get too hung up on the why. If it helps me navigate my day a little more smoothly, and it feels like it does, then that’s good enough for me. It’s been an interesting personal experiment, and for now, I’m sticking with it. Just a small thing, but sometimes those small things make a noticeable difference in their own quiet way.
