Alright, so I’d been needing a new wallet for ages. My old one was, well, let’s just say it had seen better days. Looked like it had gone through a war. So, I was browsing, looking at this and that, and somehow the LV Metis wallet popped onto my radar. Don’t even remember how, probably saw it somewhere online. At first, I was like, “Nah, too much.” But it kinda stuck in my head, you know? I kept comparing other wallets to it. I figured, if I’m gonna get something, might as well get something I really, really like, something that feels a bit special. I looked at a few others, but kept coming back to the look of this Metis one. It seemed compact but like it could still hold what I needed.
Actually Getting It
Decided to just go for it. Went to the store. The whole experience was, well, an experience. Felt a bit fancy, to be honest. They showed it to me, I poked at it, opened and closed it a bunch of times. Made the purchase. Walked out with the bag feeling a bit like, “Did I really just do that?” But also pretty excited, not gonna lie.
First Look, Fresh Out the Box
Got home and did the whole unboxing thing. The packaging is always part of it, isn’t it? Pulled it out. The canvas felt sturdy, the clasp thingy was shiny. It had that new smell. First impression? Looked good. Solid. Smaller than I thought it would be, which was actually a plus for me. I didn’t want a brick in my bag.
Putting It Through Its Paces – The Day-to-Day
Then came the real test: moving all my junk into it.
- Cards went in. The slots were a bit stiff at first. Really had to push them in. Hoping they loosen up a bit.
- Cash fit okay in its spot. Not a ton of room, but I don’t carry much cash anyway.
- There’s a zippered part, I guess for coins or whatever. It’s alright. A bit tight to get fingers into if you have a lot of coins.
- The S-lock closure is pretty neat. Makes a satisfying click. Feels secure.
Slid it into my bag. Definitely less bulky than my old monster wallet. That was a relief.
Living With It – The Real Deal
Okay, so I’ve been using it for a little while now.
What I’m liking:
- It’s definitely compact. Fits in smaller bags, which is great.
- The look. I mean, that’s a big part of it, right? It does look smart.
- The S-lock feels pretty secure. I don’t worry about it popping open.
Things that are just okay, or minor gripes:
- Those card slots are still a bit stubborn. Getting cards out sometimes takes a bit of a wiggle.
- The capacity is, well, what you’d expect for something this size. You can’t stuff it like a turkey. You gotta be a bit minimalist.
- I’m always a bit worried about the canvas, like, will it get super dirty or scuffed easily? So far, so good, but it’s on my mind.
So, What’s the Bottom Line for Me?
It’s a nice wallet. It does what a wallet is supposed to do, holds my cards and a bit of cash. Is it a life-changing experience? Nah, it’s a wallet. But it feels good to use, and I like looking at it. The card slot thing is a bit annoying, but not a dealbreaker. It forces me to not carry around a million receipts and old loyalty cards, which is probably a good thing. I wanted something that felt a bit more put-together, and this does the trick. No regrets so far, just hoping those card slots chill out a bit over time.
