My Hunt for a Room Down in Galliano
Alright, so I had this trip planned down to Galliano, Louisiana. Needed to head down that way for a bit, mostly some work stuff mixed with trying to get a line wet, you know? First thing, obviously, was figuring out where I was gonna sleep.
So, I got on the computer. Did the usual thing, just started searching around. Typed in stuff like “hotels Galliano” or “places to stay near Galliano LA”. Expected maybe a few options, wasn’t looking for a five-star resort or anything.
What popped up? Well, it wasn’t exactly a huge list. Galliano’s not a big city, more of a working town, lots of folks tied to the oilfield and fishing down there. So the options reflected that.
I saw a couple of recognizable chain motel names, the kind you see along highways. Basic, usually reliable enough for a night or two. Then there were a few local spots, maybe motels or inn-type places. Harder to tell what they were like just from the name.
Digging a Little Deeper
Started clicking through. Looked at the pictures for the places that showed up. You know how it is:
- Some looked decent enough. Clean rooms, maybe a bit dated décor, but nothing scary. Looked like a solid place to just get some rest.
- A few photos were kinda blurry or didn’t show much. Makes you wonder a bit.
- Saw one or two that seemed geared more towards longer stays, maybe for crews working offshore. Looked more functional, less touristy.
Checked out the locations on the map too. Most seemed clustered along the main road, LA-1 or LA-3235, which made sense. Easy access was key for me, didn’t want to be driving way out of the way after a long day.
Making the Call (Figuratively and Literally)
After browsing for maybe 20 minutes, I kinda narrowed it down. Didn’t see anything that screamed “luxury,” but that wasn’t the goal. I just needed:
- A clean bed
- A working shower
- Decent parking
- Hopefully working AC, ’cause Louisiana gets sticky
I ended up picking one of the more standard-looking motels. Considered calling one of the local places directly, sometimes you get a better feel talking to a person, but the online booking for the motel seemed simple enough. Just put in my dates, got a confirmation, and that was that.
So yeah, finding a place in Galliano wasn’t super complicated. Just gotta know what to expect. It’s more about practical lodging than fancy amenities down there. Found a spot that looked like it would do the trick. Ready for the trip now.
