So, I was in Macau recently and kept hearing bits and pieces about this Karl Lagerfeld hotel. Figured I should go see it myself, you know, just out of curiosity.

Made my way over to the Grand Lisboa Palace complex where it’s located. Took a bit to actually find the dedicated entrance for The Karl Lagerfeld part, it’s tucked within the bigger resort structure.
First Impressions Walking In
Stepped inside, and bam! You definitely know where you are. The whole black and white thing is immediate. Very strong lines, geometric patterns everywhere. It felt very sleek, very modern.
They really leaned into the theme. I noticed stuff like:
- Tons of books incorporated into the design, big library vibes in some spots.
- His silhouette or logo popping up in unexpected places, like on fixtures or wall details.
- Furniture looked custom, very specific shapes and colors, sticking to that monochrome palette mostly.
It wasn’t loud, but it was very… present. You couldn’t mistake the designer’s influence.
I just wandered around the public areas, the lobby, the corridors leading towards the rooms and restaurants. Didn’t check in or anything, was more interested in the atmosphere and the look of the place. Saw the entrance to their restaurant, looked quite posh.

Overall Vibe
Honestly? It felt incredibly polished. Every little detail seemed thought out to fit the Karl Lagerfeld brand. It was interesting to see that level of design consistency carried through an entire hotel space.
Felt a bit like walking through a high-fashion magazine spread, maybe a little intimidating? But definitely stylish. Glad I went to check it out, satisfied my curiosity. It’s one of those places you see to say you’ve seen it.
