So, I kept dropping my phone. Like, all the time. Almost had a heart attack last week when it slipped near the edge of the stairs. That screen replacement cost wasn’t fun the last time it happened, you know? I needed to figure something out before I really messed it up for good.

I saw these wrist strap things people had. Seemed like a simple idea. Looked online, some were kinda pricey for what they are, just a bit of string really. I wasn’t about to drop a bunch of cash on that.
Then I remembered I had some stuff lying around. Went digging in that junk drawer we all have. Found some leftover paracord from a camping trip, pretty strong stuff. Also found a tiny little metal ring, like from a keychain I didn’t use anymore.
Putting it Together
My phone case, luckily, has those two little holes down by the charging port. Perfect spot. I took a short piece of the paracord. Fiddled around a bit to get it threaded through both holes. Took a few tries, gotta admit, my fingers aren’t what they used to be. Once through, I made a small loop just big enough to slip that little metal ring onto it. Tied a real tight knot. Pulled on it hard. Seemed solid.
Then, I took a longer piece of the paracord for the wrist part. Looped that through the metal ring. Measured it against my wrist so it wasn’t too tight or too loose. Wanted it comfortable, you know? Tied another knot, a good sturdy one. I even melted the ends of the paracord slightly with a lighter, just like we did in scouts, so it wouldn’t fray apart over time. Didn’t want it failing on me.
How It’s Working Out
Been using it for a few days now. It actually feels pretty good. The phone just hangs there when I need my hands free for a second. Walking around, especially when I’m trying to take a picture or juggling groceries, I feel way less anxious about dropping the darn thing. It just dangles from my wrist.

It’s not the prettiest thing, just a bit of blue cord hanging off my phone. But who cares? It works. It really works. Simple fix. Cost me nothing basically. Sometimes these little DIY projects are the best. Feel kinda pleased I sorted it myself instead of buying something fancy.
