French Nails with Glitter: How to Get the Perfect Look at Home

Alright, so today I’m gonna spill the tea on my latest nail adventure: French tips with a glittery twist! I’ve been seeing this trend all over my feed, and I just HAD to try it myself.

French Nails with Glitter: How to Get the Perfect Look at Home

First things first, I gathered my supplies. I’m talking about my trusty nail file, cuticle pusher, base coat (super important!), a nude-ish pink polish for the base, some fine glitter (I went with a holographic silver, ’cause why not?), clear polish for mixing the glitter, and of course, a white polish for the French tips. Oh, and don’t forget a good top coat to seal the deal!

So, I started by shaping my nails. I went for a slightly rounded square shape. Then, I pushed back my cuticles (gentle now, we don’t want any ouchies!). After that, I applied a thin layer of my base coat. This is like the primer for your nails, helps the polish stick and protects your natural nails.

Next, I applied two thin coats of my nude-ish pink polish. Make sure each coat is completely dry before applying the next, otherwise you’ll end up with a gloopy mess. Trust me, I’ve been there.

Now for the fun part: the glitter! I grabbed a small dish and mixed a bit of my clear polish with the holographic glitter. You want a good glitter-to-polish ratio, not too much polish, not too much glitter. I kinda just eyeballed it until it looked right. Then, using a thin brush, I carefully painted the glitter mixture onto the tips of my nails, right where the white French tip would normally go. I did two coats of the glitter, letting each coat dry in between.

Okay, time for the classic French tip! This is where it got a little tricky. I used a thin nail art brush and my white polish to create the smile line. It took a few tries to get them even, but hey, practice makes perfect! If you mess up, just use a small brush dipped in nail polish remover to clean up the edges.

Finally, I applied a generous coat of my top coat. This helps to smooth everything out, seal in the glitter and the white tips, and gives your nails that glossy, salon-worthy finish.

And that’s it! French tips with a glittery twist. It took me a little while, but I’m actually pretty happy with how they turned out. They’re definitely more extra than my usual nails, but sometimes you just gotta sparkle, you know?

Pro tip: Let each coat of polish dry completely! I cannot stress this enough. It takes patience, but it’s worth it in the end. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment with different glitter colors and types. Have fun with it!

  • File and shape your nails
  • Apply base coat
  • Apply nude-ish pink polish (2 coats)
  • Mix clear polish and glitter
  • Apply glitter to the tips (2 coats)
  • Create French tips with white polish
  • Apply top coat

Would I do it again? Totally! Might try a different color glitter next time, maybe gold? Let me know if you try this out, and tag me in your pics! I wanna see your sparkly creations!
