Alright, so I’ve been obsessed with Ginny Weasley’s hair in the later Harry Potter movies. It’s, like, this perfect mix of wavy and messy, but still totally cute and practical. I decided I had to try and recreate it myself. So, here’s how my little experiment went down.
The Prep Work
First, I started with kinda dirty hair. Not, like, greasy and gross, but definitely not freshly washed. Day-old hair, you know? It holds style better anyway. I also grabbed my:
- Sea salt spray (because that’s gotta be the key to those beachy waves, right?)
- A curling wand (one of those ones without a clamp)
- Hairspray (gotta lock it all in!)
- A wide-tooth comb-To prevent hair breakage.
The Wavy Action
I started by spritzing my hair all over with the sea salt spray. I didn’t go crazy, just enough to get it a little damp and textured. Then, I sectioned off my hair – top and bottom, nothing fancy.
Next came the curling wand. I took, like, random sections of hair – some bigger, some smaller – and wrapped them around the wand. The trick, I figured, was to not curl every single piece. Ginny’s hair isn’t perfectly curled, it’s more like, naturally wavy in some spots and straighter in others.
I held each section on the wand for maybe, like, 5-10 seconds? Just enough to get a bend in it, not a full-on ringlet. And I made sure to alternate the direction I wrapped the hair – some towards my face, some away. Again, gotta keep it looking natural, not like I spent hours on it (even though I kinda did…).
Messing It Up (On Purpose!)
Once I’d done the bottom and top sections, I let my hair cool down for a bit. Then, I flipped my head upside down and gave it a good shake. This is where the “messy” part comes in. I used my fingers to kinda rake through the curls, breaking them up and making them less defined.
Finishing touch
I combed my hair with a wide-tooth comb to furthur break my curls.
I flipped my head back up and messed with it some more, pulling out a few pieces around my face to frame it. Then, a quick blast of hairspray to hold everything in place, and… done!
Okay, so it’s not exactly like Ginny’s – my hair’s probably a different texture and length – but I was pretty happy with it! It definitely had that cool, effortless vibe I was going for. It’s a fun style to try if you’re looking for something a little different, and it’s not too hard to do. Just takes a bit of practice (and a whole lotta sea salt spray!).
