Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “men’s eyeliner” thing popping up everywhere, and honestly, I was curious. I mean, I’ve always been a “makeup is for everyone” kind of guy, but I’d never actually tried it on myself. So, I figured, why not? Let’s do this.
The Prep Work
First, I needed to, like, actually get some eyeliner. I didn’t want anything fancy, just something basic to start with. I went to the drugstore and grabbed a simple black pencil liner – figured that was the easiest to work with. No liquid liner adventures for this newbie!
The (Slightly Awkward) Application
Next up, the actual application. I watched a couple of quick YouTube videos – just dudes showing how they do it, nothing too complicated. It seemed simple enough: just kinda trace along your upper lash line, right?
Wrong.
My hand was, like, shaking. I poked myself in the eye, like, twice. It was not graceful. I ended up with this smudgy, uneven line that looked more like I’d been in a fight than, you know, intentionally put on makeup.
- First attempt: Disaster. Uneven, smudgy, and generally terrible.
- Second attempt: Slightly better, but still pretty bad.
- Third attempt: Okay, I was starting to get the hang of it. Still not perfect, but definitely more wearable.
The Clean-Up
I used a cotton swab dipped in some makeup remover (borrowed from my sister – don’t tell her) to clean up the edges and make it look a little less… chaotic. That actually helped a lot. It went from “I slept in my makeup” to “I maybe kinda know what I’m doing.”
The Final Result (and Verdict)
After a bit more finessing, I ended up with a pretty subtle line along my upper lashes. It definitely made my eyes pop a little more – made them look bigger and more defined. I wasn’t going for a dramatic look, just something to enhance what I’ve already got.
Honestly? I kinda liked it. It wasn’t as scary or as difficult as I thought it would be (after the initial eye-poking incidents, of course). Would I wear it every day? Probably not. But for a night out, or maybe just to feel a little extra… something? Yeah, I could see myself doing this again. It’s all about experimenting, right?
