David Yurman Roman Amulet: Shop the Iconic Collection & Find Your Perfect Piece!

Okay, so I’ve been eyeing those David Yurman Roman Amulet necklaces for a while, you know, the ones with the cool ancient coin look. I finally decided to take the plunge and try to recreate one myself. I mean, why not, right?

Getting Started

First things first, I gathered my materials. This was mostly stuff I had lying around my craft box, thankfully.

  • An old, tarnished coin (I think it was a quarter, but super worn down)
  • Some jewelry wire (I went with a thicker gauge for a chunkier look)
  • Pliers (needle-nose and regular)
  • A jump ring (to attach the pendant to a chain)
  • A chain (I used an old silver one I wasn’t wearing anymore)

The Process

I started by cleaning the coin. It was pretty grimy, so I just used some soap and water and an old toothbrush. Nothing fancy, just wanted to get the dirt off.

Next, the tricky part: wrapping the wire. I wanted to create a kind of “cage” around the coin, similar to how the David Yurman amulets look. I started by wrapping the wire around the coin’s edge, making sure it was snug but not too tight (didn’t want to crack the poor old thing!).

This took some patience, I’m not gonna lie. I kept fiddling with the wire, bending and shaping it until I got a look I liked. It’s definitely not perfect, but I was going for a rustic vibe anyway.

Once I was happy with the wire wrapping, I used the pliers to create a small loop at the top. This is where the jump ring would go.

Finishing Touches

I opened the jump ring with the pliers, slipped it through the loop I’d made on the pendant, and then attached the whole thing to my chain. Easy peasy!

The Result

And that’s it! My own DIY David Yurman-inspired Roman Amulet. It’s not an exact replica, obviously, but I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s got that cool, ancient-meets-modern look, and it was way cheaper than buying the real thing. Plus, I made it myself, which is always a good feeling.

If you decide to give it a try, let me know!.
