Okay, so I decided to throw a 60s themed party. Groovy, right? First thing I did was hit up some thrift stores. I mean, you gotta find the right look!
Digging for Gold (and Polyester)
I spent a whole Saturday afternoon rummaging through racks. It was kind of overwhelming at first, all those vintage clothes crammed together. But then I started finding some gems.
- First find: A bright orange mini-dress with these crazy white flowers all over it. Definitely screamed “60s!”
- Next up: I snagged a pair of white go-go boots. A little scuffed, but nothing a little cleaning couldn’t fix.
- Score! I found this awesome paisley shirt, it was a mens shirt so it was perfect, it completed the look
Accessorizing the Madness
The outfit was coming together, but it needed…more. So I hit up the accessories. A little added touch is all!
- I grabbed some big, chunky plastic bangles. Orange and white, of course, to match the dress.
- Then I found a pair of those giant, round sunglasses. You know, the ones that make you look like a bug? Perfect!
- Finally, I picked up a white headband. Gotta keep that (imaginary) bouffant in place, right?
Putting It All Together
Back home, I threw everything on. I have to admit, I looked pretty darn authentic. I even teased my hair a bit, though I’m no expert at that. I added some bright blue eyeshadow – because why not? – and some pale pink lipstick.
The party was a blast! Everyone dressed up, and we danced to 60s music all night. My outfit was a hit! It was fun to step back in time, even if just for one night. And hey, I now have a pretty killer 60s costume for future use!
