Got this idea today to try writing without any emojis or extra words in brackets. You know, like how people add (lol) or 🙂 after everything. Wanted to see what happens if I strip all that away.

Opened my laptop around 9 AM. Started typing normally about making coffee – caught myself putting “perfect morning ☕️” automatically. Backspaced hard. Felt weird having bare words just sitting there naked. Hands kept twitching toward the colon key like muscle memory.

First Attempt Disaster

Tried describing traffic outside my window. Wrote “crazy honking symphony (seriously, horns galore!)”. Deleted everything after symphony. Left it at “crazy honking symphony”. Felt dead. Added “chaotic angry” before symphony. Still flat. Almost caved and dropped a car emoji.

Breakthrough While Cooking

Lunchtime changed everything. Typed cooking steps plain: “Chopped onions heated oil stirred two minutes added garlic browned meat poured tomatoes boiled lowered heat simmered ten minutes.” No “careful not to burn!” or (yummy) notes. Shockingly easier to read. Realized emojis were crutches all along – actual verbs did heavy lifting.

Key discoveries:

Finished drafting at 4 PM. Proofreading felt clinical but powerful. Accidentally described this experiment without smiling once. Irony. Maybe words stand stronger alone. Will try tomorrow again.
